China improves self-esteem, independence and adaptability: 92% of the young people who lived there say so.

The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.

This sentence was pronounced by the American president Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933 and since then it has been succesfull of course the path is still long and tortuous, but that’s a good start. Continents that were already industrialized, such as North America and Europe, are now also fully included in the Asian continent, whose undisputed leading light is China. Land of rice fields, pandas and kung fu, has experienced an incredible development, especially from an economic and technological point of view. In addition to this, there is a very ancient history, centuries-old traditions and a culture full of charm, which have always fascinated the western world, in search of new balances, new challenges, new horizons. In a highly globalized and hi-tech world, like the one we live in today, the border between East and West is becoming increasingly blurred and the journey to "Cathay" has never been so smart. The geographical, cultural and ideological barriers are crumbling before our eyes at the speed of the fiber, under the banner of the now daily exchange.

Nowadays everybody owns a smartphone signed by Huawei or Xiaomi. Did you know that the fashion brand Krizia has now passed to the Shenzhen group and so did a lot of other companies.

The truth is that now we import more from China than we export, almost double. This is because it’s an economic reality now much more powerful than ours. Suffice it to think of Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant that alone stands up to Amazon, the American giant of online business. Even the Chinese language, as well as the market, has now conquered the world: it is the most spoken language today, second only to English.
A recent Ipsos statistic testifies that in Italy too the study of the Chinese language in high schools is spreading more and more, both as a curricular and extracurricular subject, with more than positive results and with a certificate issue. In fact, 41% of schools with curricular courses have included Chinese as the basic subject for the state exam and 47% intend to do it for the future...something will mean it!

The schools with an international profile, which therefore provide for the teaching of Chinese, are mainly located in northern Italy, with good percentages also in central and southern Italy, thanks to the initiative of open, cosmopolitan and innovative school leaders, clearly supported by qualified teachers , also mother tongue. In addition to not a few hours of classroom there are also exchange and mobility projects, which are essential for the children, they constitute unique and unrepeatable training experiences, which will bring as a wealth of knowledge for the whole of life. 92% of the students who have lived a school year in the land Serica positively evaluates this experience, since the encounter with a culture so different benefits first of all on a personal level as well as cultural enrichment.

The students defined it as a great opportunity for growth, maturity, ideal for strengthening self-esteem, independence and adaptation, as well as openness to diversity, which today is a fundamental point and often constitutes still an obstacle to overcome. In addition, the Chinese school method, based on rigorous commitment, competition and dynamism, is an excellent training ground for life, it teaches to set goals and to pursue them with determination, not to surrender to difficulties and to assert itself always. All this offers considerable chances to find work, both for the skills acquired and for the value conferred on the curriculum by a unique and unparalleled experience.

The exchange and contact with "the other pole of the human experience" therefore becomes more and more important, more necessary, in an era in which the words "international", "citizens of the world", "cosmopolitan", a age in which the distances are canceled thanks to the network. And it is always thanks to the network that the new generations of hyperconnected live the need for this union in a completely spontaneous way, without prejudices or unjustified closures, but rather with eyes full of ardor and wonder, dreaming of the country of technology, of progress , of the economy, dreaming of the country of the future.
